The judges had great difficulty in judging this award as all the nominees were of such a high standard, with each having a great story to tell regarding their contribution to their Club. To highlight this, only a handful of points separated the nominees. The winner of the Volunteer of the Year has volunteered at their Club for many years in a wide variety of roles depending on the Club’s needs. On many occasions they performed these roles at the same time. Importantly the winner’s efforts were integral in turning around the Club’s fortunes, whereby not that long ago the Club was facing insolvency, but now it is in a sound financial position and thriving. This person’s ability to bring people together and to make them feel part of the Club has ensured that the Club will be around for many years to come. This winner gives their time without hesitation and isn’t afraid to get their hands dirty and considers that they need the Club just as much as it needs them, exemplifying their love for the Club and its people.
